Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how VBar collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our platform. By using VBar, you agree to the practices described below.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the information you provide when you create an account or use VBar — such as your name, email address, profile details, and the coaching data you enter (coached athletes, programs, workout logs, and messages), along with any ideas, bug reports and votes you add to the Ideas board. We also collect basic technical information like device type, usage analytics, and error reports to keep the service running.

2. Signing in with Google

You can create an account and sign in with your Google account. When you do, Google shares only your name, email address and profile picture with VBar. We use them for one purpose: to create your VBar account and sign you in. We do not request access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts or any other Google data, we do not use Google user data for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it with anyone other than the service providers listed below, who process it only to run VBar. VBar's use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. You can disconnect VBar at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and you can delete your VBar account in Settings.

3. How Long We Keep Data

We keep your account and coaching data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your profile, programs, workout history, messages, Ideas board posts and votes are deleted from our database, and we stop sending you email. Encrypted backups of the database are kept for a limited time for disaster recovery and are overwritten on a rolling schedule. Coaches and athletes can also remove individual records, such as a logged workout, from within the app. You can download your own training history at any time from Settings → Data & API.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide and improve the service: to operate your account, deliver programs and logging, surface analytics, enable messaging between coaches and athletes, and provide support. We do not sell your personal information.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored with our infrastructure provider and protected by access controls and row-level security so that you can only access the records you are authorized to see. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

6. Sharing With Coaches and Athletes

VBar is a coaching platform, so some information is shared by design — for example, a coach can see the programs and logged sessions of the athletes they coach, and athletes can see programs assigned to them. We do not otherwise share your data with third parties except as needed to operate the service or comply with the law.

7. The Ideas Board

The Ideas board is public: anyone, signed in or not, can read the ideas and bug reports posted there and see how many votes each has. Readers see only whether an idea came from a coach, an athlete or a solo user — never your name, email or account — and your individual votes are visible only to you. Please don't include client names, health details or other private information in an idea. You can edit or delete your own idea while it is still open, and deleting your account removes your ideas and votes.

8. Service Providers

We use a small number of providers to run VBar. Supabase hosts our database and sign-in, and Vercel hosts the website. Sentry receives error reports when the app breaks; these contain the technical error and an anonymous account identifier, and we remove email addresses, names, page query strings and client identifiers from them before they are sent. Google Analytics counts visits to our public pages (the marketing site, docs and Ideas board) — only after you accept in the cookie banner, never inside the signed-in app, and with Google's advertising features switched off. Resend sends our emails (invitations, a welcome message and occasional product tips). It receives your email address and first name, and whether you've started using the product, so it can send the right message and honour unsubscribes; every tip email has an unsubscribe link. PostHog receives product-usage events (such as that a program was assigned) tied to an anonymous account identifier; it never receives names, emails, messages, workout contents or screen recordings. These providers process data only to provide their service to us.

9. Your Choices and Rights

You can view and update your profile information in Settings, and you can delete your account at any time, which removes your associated data. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information.

10. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for essential functionality such as keeping you signed in and remembering your appearance preferences (theme and accent color). If you accept analytics on our public pages, Google Analytics also sets cookies to tell visits apart; you can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” in the site footer.

11. Children's Privacy

VBar is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

12. Contact Us

If you have a question about this policy, want a copy of your data, or want it deleted and cannot do it yourself in Settings, email us at the address below and we will reply.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes may be communicated to you directly.
